The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
(James 5:16)
*Dearly beloved, our Lord is a prayer answering God. We have hope in Him
because He answers our prayers. The Bible says, “O You who hear prayer, to
You all flesh will come” (Psalms 65:2). You may say, “I’ve been praying for
more than ten years but still there is no answer to my prayer.” Do not be
disheartened! Today, the Lord will answer your prayers and wipe away your
tears.
Apostle James teaches us as how to pray to God. He says, “The prayer of a
righteous man is powerful and effective” (James 5:16). The prayer of a
righteous man is effective. Today when you pray as a righteous man, the Lord
will answer all your prayers. You may say, “I’m not a righteous man because
I have shortcomings in my life. Will the Lord answer my prayers?” When our
heart condemns us like this, we are unable to pray and fear that the Lord
will chasten us.
You may ask, “How can I become righteous so that my prayers can be
effective?" In Luke 18:10-14, we see that two men went to the temple to
pray. One was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector. The Pharisee
prayed within himself saying, “Lord, I’m not like the unjust and wicked men.
I give my tithes regularly and I fast twice a week.” The Pharisee exalted
himself before God and asked Him to bless him whereas the tax collector
stood outside the temple and did not even lift his eyes to heaven because of
his unworthiness to enter the temple. He beat his breast and said, “Lord, be
merciful to me a sinner!” The Lord says that the tax collector who cried out
to God to have mercy on him was made righteous. He pleaded to God to show
mercy to him and not despise his prayer. The Lord answered the cries of the
tax collector and made him righteous.
Dearly beloved, today the Lord is desirous to make you righteous. The Bible
says, “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and
forsakes them will have mercy” (Proverbs 28:13). Acknowledge your sin before
the Lord and forsake your sinful ways. He will make you righteous and answer
all your prayers.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
I humble myself before You. Cleanse me with Your precious blood. Take away
the things that displease You in my life and draw me closer to You. Make me
righteous and let Your mercy and loving-kindness fill my life. I give You
all glory, honour and praise.
In Your matchless name I pray.
Amen.*
